The Polar Bear Dip (PBD) is the signature fundraiser of Friends of River Hospital, which raises annually, on average, $55,000 to support River Hospital. This high profile event brings people to Alexandria Bay from as far away as Colorado, and raises more money with each succeeding year.

Funds from the 2011 Polar Bear Dip were used to upgrade Emergency Department equipment and assist with the renovation of River Hospital’s registration area. The 2011 PBD saw a staggering 140 individuals take the plunge to support River Hospital – an increase of 50 dippers from 2010!

The next Polar Bear Dip will take place on February 25, 2012 and the proceeds will be directed to the upgrade of the Radiology Department’s ultrasound and digital mammography equipment.
