Join the Jefferson Leadership Institute Class of 2017 as we Race Against Poverty once again! The 2nd Annual Race Against Poverty combines challenges that are physical, mental and sometimes even a tad bit silly, which scatters teams of two all over Public Square in an effort to win the top prizes! From the starting line at the JB Wise Pavilion, teams are given a clue leading them to another checkpoint and they must successfully complete challenges-following clues-until they reach the end of the race. This is a timed event and prizes will be awarded to the 3 fastest teams: The cost is $50 for a team of two to participate and includes a free t-shirt. This is run/walk event. There will be an after-party with food, beverages, entertainment, silent auction and more for the racers and entire community to attend. Check back for information on how to register your team. The proceeds raised from the Race Against Poverty will go towards “Getting Ahead in a Just Getting’ by World” a program offered by the Community Action Planning Council, the Watertown Urban Mission and The Volunteer Transportation Center. The program is an incredible 16-session program, for individuals willing to participate, that encourages participants to build resources and create a plan for getting out of poverty and “Getting Ahead.” Join the JLI Class of 2017 as we help support programming for families living in poverty in our area! This event is supported by our generous sponsors.
