It's tie again for the Annual GB Weekend festival. This year we have a new committee that's worked to make this weekend a family centered, fun filled event. Scheduled activities start with Friday night concerts by the General Brown Elementary and High School Bands; and select vocal group the Generalaires at the Brown Mansion, starting at 6:30 PM.
Friday-Sunday there are Village wide rummage sales. Friday and Saturday the GB High School Class of 2014 is holding a rummage sale at the Immaculate Conception Church Parish Center. Ontario Amusements will have rides and carnival games behind the Brown Mansion on the field for all 3 days. A combination craft fair and farmers market will be set up on the front lawn of the Mansion. A combination craft fair and farmers market will be set up on the front lawn of the Mansion. Jewelry, woodworking items, banners, clothing, wind chime, and all sorts of other crafters have reserved space for the event . The tennis courts will be a food court, with Smokey's BBQ, and concession stands from Fowler's Family, Lamont food service, Town of Brownville Lions Club, Top Dog, Jodi's Ice Cream, Johnny D's and many more. Car show buffs will want to check out the show between 1 and 5 pm behind the mansion; car enthusiast ma enter the show with a donation of a food item for the local pantry, and multiple prizes will be awarded. Chicken BBQ's will be held at the Glen Park Fire Department on Saturday, and the Brownville American Legion on Sunday. The Antwerp Drum and Bugle Corps will play Saturday at 4 PM in front of the Mansion.
One of the best parades in the North Country will be held on Saturday evening at 7 PM, starting at the Elementary School in Glen Park, and ending at the General's Home, the Brown Mansion. Local High School bands have been invited to play in front of the Mansion immediately following the parade.
At dusk a great fireworks show will be put on with viewing from the back lawn of the Mansion.
On Sunday the fun continues with the Annual Soap Box Derby-registration at 12 noon with races staring at 1 PM. Immediately following the derby, the awards will be presented at the Brown Mansion, followed by an Ice Cream Social . Wine tasting and Vodka sampling will be for the adults, and a concert by the US Army 10th Mountain Division Band is tentatively scheduled
