TITLE: Water & Wastewater Management Instructor (Adult Education) Part-time
LOCATION: Bohlen Technical Center, Watertown, New York
DUTIES: Teach courses in water treatment, wastewater treatment, distribution systems, collection systems, environmental regulations, and related topics.
- Develop and revise curriculum and instructional materials to align with state and industry standards (e.g., NYS Department of Health, NYSDEC).
- Provide hands-on instruction using lab equipment and simulations.
- Prepare students for New York State operator certification exams (Grades I–IV).
- Advise and mentor students pursuing careers in municipal water and wastewater services.
- Maintain records of student progress, attendance, and certification readiness.
- Establish and maintain industry partnerships to support internships, site visits, and guest lectures.
- Reports to the Assistant Director for Career & Technical and Adult Education programs.
- 10-15 hours/week, 2 to 3 nights/week, 3:00 pm – 8:00 pm
QUALIFICATIONS: Associate degree or higher in Environmental Technology, Civil/Environmental Engineering, Water/Wastewater Operations, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in water/wastewater operations.
- NYS Grade 3 or 4 Water or Wastewater Operator Certification (or equivalent experience with willingness to obtain).
- Demonstrated knowledge of NYS and EPA regulations and treatment technologies.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Commitment to student success and equity in education.
- Fingerprint clearance prior to date of hire

- Child Abuse Identification Workshop
