Director of Finance - Watertown, NY

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work - 40 hours per week; flexible to the needs of the department. Required to share time between Jefferson and St. Lawrence Counties as determined by the CFO.

 

Qualifications - Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field; Minimum 3 years of accounting experience and at least 1 year of supervisory experience preferred. Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office.

 

Work Authorization/Security Clearance – Authorized to work in the United States and pass all background clearances.

 

Summary/Objective - Support the CFO in the oversight authority of all accounting and financial operations following the guidelines of the agency's business office, Policies and Procedures Manual.

  1. Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implement a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk.
  2. Oversee the production of periodic financial reports; ensure that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or financial reporting standards. 
  3. Provide financial analysis of program performance.
  4. Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.
  5. Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the accounting department as assigned or as directed by the CFO.
  6. Responsible for updating job descriptions and annual evaluations as assigned
  7. Oversight and maintenance of NetSuite Accounting Software
  8. Responsible for ensuring the following is managed
    1. Physical Inventory
    2. Agency Financial Reporting
    3. Annual Agency Audit
    4. Other audits, surveys, reporting as assigned
  9. Cover duties and responsibilities in the absence of the CFO, to include board meetings
  10. Other responsibilities as assigned to ensure department efficiencies.

Supervisory Responsibility – Responsible for the oversite of all accounting staff in Jefferson and St. Lawrence County as signed

 

Work Environment – This position uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copiers, fax machines, etc.  Also involves some travel and engagement in the community.

Wage Range - $79,500-$89,835/Year, More based on experience
