Payroll Specialist/Bookkeeper

Location - Watertown, NY

Job Summary: 

Due to continued growth in our client base, we have an immediate need for an experienced professional who will be responsible for Payroll for our clients and able to work with Payroll Software as well as perform bookkeeping functions for our Watertown office.  The successful candidates will handle payroll functions, including routine processing through our accounting software.  This position falls under Client Accounting Advisory Services department. Our Client Accounting and Advisory Services Department serves approximately two-hundred businesses providing outsourced CFO functions, payroll, full-service bookkeeping, financial statement preparation, vendor bill processing and payment, revenue invoicing, and various accounting analysis as requested.  

Responsibilities: 

  • Responsible for timely, efficient processing and accurate payment of vendor invoices, researching and resolving problem invoices 
  • Entering invoices, applying payments to appropriate accounts, reconciling customer accounts, and handling customer inquiries 
  • Banking - Perform monthly bank reconciliation 
  • Tax payments and payroll tax return preparation and filings as necessary
  • Prepare Financial Statements: Balance Sheet, Income Statement on a monthly basis 
  • Assist with Financial Reporting 
  • Assist with payroll functions, including routine processing, tax payments and payroll tax return preparation and filings as necessary 

Qualifications/Education: 

    • Associates Degree Required
    • QuickBooks experience is preferred
    • 1+ years related experience
    • Strong PC skills including proficiency in Excel
    • Excellent Organizational skills and attention to detail
    • Time-management expertise
    • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and deliver on deadlines.
    • Problem-solving abilities
    • Knowledge of all pertinent federal and state regulations, filing and compliance requirements
    • Experience with QuickBooks preferred 
    •  All other job duties as required
