TITLE: Personnel Assistant – Human Resources
LOCATION: Human Resources Department
Jefferson-Lewis BOCES, Administration Building, Watertown, NY
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES: Administrative duties including maintaining personnel records, keeping confidential files and assisting human resource director as needed. Maintain and update the organizational HRIS databases for attendance tracking and hiring & recruiting. Utilize computer database and word-processing software to produce letters, memoranda, routine reports, spreadsheets, and other work documents. Performs research to secure information from records for resolving employment and status questions. Compose letters and emails in response to inquiries; prepare and distributes announcements of job openings; coordinate communication with candidates and schedule interviews; review qualifications of applicants against job specific requirements; input workers compensation claims; answer and route incoming phone calls; performs other duties as required or assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
(A) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York state registered college with a bachelor’s degree; OR
(B) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York state registered college with an associate's degree and two (2) years of clerical experience in a personnel or human resource agency, the major job function of which must have been in the maintenance of personnel records and providing detailed information about personnel policies and programs; OR
(C) High School Diploma and four (4) years of clerical experience in a personnel or human resource agency, the major job function of which must have been in the maintenance of personnel records and providing detailed information about personnel policies and programs.
Applicant must meet civil service requirements and pass a civil service examination with results being reachable status.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS: $38,000-$42,000. This is a 12-month position. Salary commensurate with experience in keeping with the current agreement. Health insurance which includes vision & prescription coverage, NYS Retirement membership, tax deferred annuities, employee assistance program, and generous vacation, sick and personal day policies
