TITLE: Assistant Health and Safety Coordinator

LOCATION: Jefferson-Lewis BOCES Administration Building

• Coordinate and conduct workshops for school district professional and support staff.
• Coordinate the removal of toxic substances from school buildings.
• Conduct asbestos and annual visual inspections.
• Provide required OSHA training to participating districts, including Hazard Communication,
Blood-Borne Pathogen, and Personal Protective Equipment.
• Assist in the development and maintenance of Emergency Management Plans.
• Provide guidance on OSHA, EPA, DOH, DEC, DOT, and Department of Labor regulations.
• Assist in the development and implementation of pesticide management programs.
• Attend training workshops, make presentations, and write reports as directed by the Health
and Safety Coordinator, Director of Finance, and District Superintendent of the Jefferson-
Lewis BOCES.
• Meet with local school personnel and BOCES administrators as necessary on state and
federal regulatory issues.
• Coordinate the Jefferson-Lewis Workers Comp/Safety Program.
• Indoor Air Quality, playground, and structural inspections, and publish newsletter.
• Assists schools with NYS Code Compliance

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS: $43,000-$48,000. Commensurate with experience in keeping with the
current negotiated agreement. Health insurance which includes vision & prescription coverage, NYS Retirement membership, tax deferred annuities, employee assistance program, and generous vacation, sick and personal day policies.
