Jefferson Community College, Watertown, NY, part of the State University of New York (SUNY) System, is conducting a search for a full-time Educational Planner – School of STEM and Health Professions. Responsibilities include developing a structured academic plan for assigned students in the School of STEM and Health Professions that include career assessment and transfer-driven paths to achieving academic success and completion. The successful candidate will be passionate about assisting students in achieving their educational goals and will understand the barriers and challenges facing students in higher education, particularly the community college setting. The candidate will be familiar with academic advising, transfer, and career planning. Jefferson Community College utilizes an embedded advising model, where Educational Planners are housed amongst the faculty within their respective discipline. The primary mission is to provide academic planning, career assessment, and transfer guidance to assigned students within the School of STEM and Health Professions. Minimal overnight travel for training and professional development may be required. Professional staff are expected to advance the College's focus on student success and completion and will work closely with the College's leadership to advance the mission of the Strategic Plan 2020-2025.
Required: Bachelor's degree in a related field and three (3) years of appropriate professional experience.
Applicants must interact and communicate effectively with diverse populations, foster inclusion, and promote equal access and treatment for groups traditionally under-represented in higher education.
Preferred: Master's degree in a STEM or Health Professions discipline and experience in counseling, college admissions, advising or student financial aid is highly desirable.
