Learning Skills Specialist - Liberty Partnership

Jefferson Community College, Watertown, NY, part of the State University of New York (SUNY) System, is conducting a search for a part-time Learning Skills Specialist in our Liberty Partnership Program.
 
The Learning Skills Specialist is responsible for providing direct academic support and guidance to at-risk students within the Watertown City School District and is the point-of-contact for teachers regarding Liberty Students.  The Learning Skills Specialist will meet with 5th and 6th grade students individually and in small groups during the school day and will organize and operate a weekly lunch group for students; meet with teachers, administrators, and counselors during the school day; supervise students in partnership with 4H educators during the after-school program at Wiley; work directly with tutors to assist students with homework and social emotional assessments; assist summer programming consisting of duties at EPIC day camp in partnership with YMCA staff; coordinate periodic educational and cultural field trips for students; collect appropriate data and report it to the Director and Data Manager.  The Learning Skills Specialist will work closely with the College's leadership to advance the mission of the Strategic Plan 2020-2025.

Required: Associates Degree and one to two years of appropriate professional experience.

Applicants must interact and communicate effectively with diverse populations, foster inclusion, and promote equal access and treatment for groups traditionally under-represented in higher education.

Preferred: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education, counseling, teaching or a related field, NYS Fingerprinting Clearance, and experience teaching, coaching, or counseling.
