CRISIS SERVICES ADVOCATE

Job Summary: The Crisis Services Advocate holds a pivotal role within the Victims Assistance Center, providing crisis services, intervention, and resources to victims. This position requires a flexible schedule to ensure 24/7 coverage, including responsibilities during days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

· Respond to crisis calls in collaboration with local law enforcement agencies.

· Provide comprehensive advocacy services, including crisis intervention, counseling, and assistance with New York State Office of Victim Services compensation applications.

· Inform clients about their legal rights at the time of the incident.

· Arrange transportation for clients to appropriate destinations.

· Initiate the intake process for clients entering the Residential Facility.

· Provide complete orientation to Residential Facility for new clients.

· Assist in client intake procedures and provide Hotline coverage, as necessary.

· Maintain accurate and timely client progress notes and information in case records.

· Keep statistical data as required for reporting purposes.

· Ensure the safety and security of Residential Facility residents.

· Maintain cleanliness of the Residential Facility according to agency standards and New York State regulations.

· Monitor client activities and report as necessary to the Crisis Services Supervisor and other Advocates.

· Ensure that Facility residents observe all Residential Facility guidelines and regulations.

· Collaborate with law enforcement, the Criminal Justice system, and Social Services to facilitate seamless client support.

· Report Residential Facility needs to the Crisis Services Supervisor regularly.

· Assumes other related duties, as assigned.

Job Requirements:

· Must exercise a non-judgmental, client-centered approach in working with clients.

· Must have knowledge of child development, crisis intervention and counseling techniques.

· Must have a valid New York State Driver's License with good driving record and have access to a reliable, insured, vehicle.

· Must have the ability to follow oral and written directions.

· Must possess familiarity of community resources.

· Must be able to be flexible with own work schedule to meet program and coverage needs.

· Must be organized, resourceful, flexible, have good assessment skills, and able to utilize good independent judgment in dealing with situations that arise.

Qualifications:

· High School Diploma/GED required; and

· Experience in human services, victim’s services issues, criminal justice or related fields preferred.

· Individuals with lived experience are encouraged to apply.
