Custodian - Staff with Disabilities - Fort Drum

SIGN ON BONUS: $300 payable after 3 months of service

 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: Up to 40 hours per week. Occasional overtime may be required. Nights and/or weekends and holiday work, depending on needs related to the contract. May also require occasional day time work. Rate of Pay : $17.20  plus (H&W $4.41)

 

Qualifications: Experience in janitorial work preferred. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. without assistance. Must be capable of working on feet for extended periods of time. Must provide your own transportation to work. Must be able to read and identify MSD sheets and various chemical labels and markings. Must be willing to learn proper use of cleaning agents and usage of various supplies. Must be willing to learn proper maintenance and safety features of both light and heavy custodial equipment.

 

Work Authorization/Security Clearance: Authorized to work in the United States and pass all background clearances.

 

Summary/Objective: Perform general cleaning tasks and maintain work areas as assigned.

 

Essential Functions: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  1. Use high and low speed maintenance equipment as assigned.
  2. Trash removal.
  3. Sweep/mop/dust/vacuum as assigned.
  4. Wet mop.
  5. Perform restroom disinfectant and cleaning as assigned.
  6. Wash windows.
  7. Monitor use of equipment and report any malfunctions or problems to supervisor.
  8. Practice Safety First.

Must provide own transportation to and from worksite.

 

Work Environment: This position operates in all areas of the facility including, but not limited to, administration area, warehouse areas, customer service area, and restrooms.

 

Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; lift; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Work may require lifting, pushing, or pulling in excess of 50 pounds.
