Financial Accountant- Jefferson County

Position Type/Expected Hours Of Work - Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 4:00pm. Flexible to the needs of the department based on audits and projects.

 

Qualifications - Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting; 1-3 years of prior experience in similar setting with comparable exposure; expertise in Microsoft Word and Excel; good analytical, organizational and communicative skills.

 

Work Authorization/Security Clearance - Authorized to work in the United States and pass all background clearances.

 

Summary/Objective - Responsible for the general ledger system. Responsible for monthly, quarterly and annual fiscal reporting. Preparation of Agency State and Federal Mandated Reports.

  1. General Ledger Maintenance
    1. Add accounts, departments, locations as needed
    2. Monthly journal entry preparation and input
    3. Account Reconciliations
  2. Preparation and distribution of the following:
    1. Agency balance sheet
    2. Income statements to include departmental, site and consolidated
  3. Agency financial reporting
    1. Consolidated Fiscal Report (CFR)
    2. NYSARC
    3. Annual Contract/Budget-Family Support Services
  4. Audit related duties:
    1. Assist with prelim audit requests and transaction testing
    2. Prepare year end audit schedules as required
  5. Monitor income and expense accounts:
    1. Assist management team with questions involving monthly financial statements
  6. Inventory
    1. Coordinate physical inventory at Production Unlimited.
    2. Review and investigate variances between financial reporting systems and all physical counts for all inventories: UPS, Production Unlimited and bulk
    3. Prepare detail summary of workshop inventories
  7. UPS Stores
    1. Review and record activity
    2. Submit quarterly reports
  8. Act as department supervisor in the absence of the Chief Financial Officer and Senior Financial Accountant.
  9. Provide back-up for positions in the department as needed.

Supervisory Responsibility - None.

 

Travel - Travel within Jefferson County and St. Lawrence County as needed to complete job requirements. Travel outside of Jefferson County for professional trainings and other job requirements.

 

Work Environment - This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Wage Range - $25.80-$29.41/Hour, Based on education and experience
